Safeguarding at Lyde Green Community School

At Lyde Green Community School, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to ensuring that every student learns in a safe, caring and enriching environment. We strive to create a strong safeguarding culture where every member of our school community feels safe, valued, listened to and cared for.

All children have a right to protection, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, culture, religion or disability. We take what students tell us seriously and work closely with families to ensure that children are safe both within and beyond school. We maintain a culture of "it could happen here" to ensure that all staff understand the collective responsibility we share in safeguarding children.

Safeguarding is the action taken to promote the welfare of children (anyone under the age of 18) and protect them from harm. Abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. Children may also experience harm through witnessing abuse or through online activity. Abuse can occur anywhere, including at home, in school, within the community and online.
